The old Villamaggiore village
The “Villamaggiore Farmstead” is a typical example of rural Lombard architecture in the area between Milan and Pavia.
It comprised a country house, the dwellings of farmhands and rice weeders, stables, a pigsty, a “casera” or dairy factory, a chapel and a nursery school.
At its peak, the settlement reached over 400 inhabitants.
Between the 1970’s and 1980’s it became progressively uninhabited.
By the 1980’s the farmhouse had been completely abandoned.
